The women's alpine skiing World Cup takes place in Soldeu

Once again this year, the major sporting events are back in Andorra. This time it will be the women's slalom and giant slalom of the Alpine skiing World Cup. It will take place very close to the hotel, on the Avet slope in the Soldeu sector of Grandvalira. All the details here, so that you can start preparing for a "competition" getaway.

A World Cup resort
Grandvalira is already familiar with hosting major competitions since 2007, when it received the approval from the FIS (International Ski Federation) for the Avet slope in Soldeu to be able to host top-level competitions. Subsequently, the Àliga slope in El Tarter joined the milestone. Since then, Grandvalira has already hosted several European Cup and World Cup Alpine Skiing events, and even two World Cup finals in 2019 and 2023.
In addition, it is currently competing to host the 2029 Alpine World Ski Championships, the sport's biggest international competition.

The world's best female skiers will meet in Grandvalira
The world elite of women's alpine skiing will gather in Andorra to give their best in the most technical disciplines: slalom and giant slalom. Mickaela Shiffin, who last year, in Grandvalira, achieved a record 88 victories, will be among the best skiers. It will also be an opportunity to get a close look at other top skiers such as Petra Vlhová, Federica Brignone and Lara Gut-Behrami, among others.

The stage for the races: the Avet piste
This slope hosts the most technical events and guarantees good snow quality thanks to its north-east orientation. It offers a difference in height of 416 metres for the giant slalom and 210 metres for the slalom.
Although major events have been held on the Avet piste since 2008, it was in 2019 that it underwent a major transformation to become the epicentre of the first Alpine skiing World Cup finals to be held in Andorra. Specifically, a 14,000-metre ski platform was built, modifying the arrival of the piste while connecting it to the village of Soldeu.

Races
The big event will take place in this order:
- Saturday 10 February from 10h30 to 13h30: the Women's GS.
- Sunday 11 February from 10h30 to 13h30: SL Women
It will be time to cheer and vibrate with the best female skiers.

Ski Festival
The organisers have also planned activities throughout the weekend to complete the experience.
- World Cup Village
A space located right on the slope where there will be activities for all ages. From workshops to meetings with sponsors, merchandising, product testing, racers' signatures and much more. It will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3.30pm.
- L'Abarset
From Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 February, L'Abarset will offer live concerts with renowned DJs to liven up the evenings of the World Cup. It will be from 16h to 21h.
Not forgetting Friday at 6.30 pm, time for the public bib draw, along with an audiovisual show and the presence of the best female skiers of the World Cup.
