Cool places to escape the heat in Andorra

Get ready! Come with us to the spots in Andorra to escape from the summer heat waves and feel the Pyrenean air.

We have just come out of a month of July that has left heat waves in many countries and the forecast for August comes with temperatures that will be above average in most of Europe. First of all -following the recommendations of the experts- is to hydrate well, protect yourself from the sun and avoid going outside during the hottest hours of the day.
In Andorra, the forecast improves a little, with sunny days and some precipitation that will cool the atmosphere. Especially in the higher areas such as Soldeu, where the hotel is located, at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres. Imagine sleeping soundly, enjoying activities where you feel the coolness and soaking in the spa. We have prepared some top summer plans for you to escape the heat.

Our hotel spa: a good plan to refresh yourself
We never tire of recommending one of our favourite places.
The Park Spa Mountain Wellness Club is a paradise of wellness where, without a doubt, you will find a good ally to pass the hottest hours. We have a heated indoor pool with massage jets for you to relax like never before. If you prefer to be outdoors, immerse yourself in the bubbles of the outdoor jacuzzi. We also have a sauna, a Turkish bath and a sensation shower that will leave you feeling like new. You can choose the spa timetable that best suits you, depending on whether you are travelling with your family, as a couple or with friends. If you need more: put yourself in the hands of our experts for a relaxing massage or some extra pampering for the skin on your body and face.

Moët Chandon Terrace: high altitude terracing
Another of our favourite spots is the terrace overlooking the Grandvalira slopes, which are now green and lush with nature.
It's the perfect place to cool off after a day of hiking, shopping or after leaving the spa. Have an artisan cocktail or a glass of champagne while you enjoy a unique sunset. And... don't miss the live music session of our DJ Patricia Mantovani on Saturdays in August from 16h30 to 20h00.

Andorra's viewpoints to escape the heat
The perfect excuse to escape the heat is to visit them, especially if you do so during the early hours of the day, when the air is more draughty. They are located in high places to offer a better panoramic view, so we can assure you that the temperatures are cooler there. For example, without leaving the parish of Canillo (where the Park Piolets hotel is located) you will find one of the most famous viewpoints: the Roc del Quer. Located at an altitude of 1913 metres, it has a 20-metre-long walkway, 12 metres of which are suspended in the air, giving you the sensation of flying over the valley. The next proposal (located very close to the Roc del Quer viewpoint) is not a viewpoint itself, but it is also very high (1918 metres above sea level) and has priceless views. This is the Canillo Tibetan Bridge, the second longest in Europe with 602 metres long and located 158 metres above the ground. We recommend that you think twice before crossing it if you suffer from vertigo.
Finally, another must on your list of visits is the Solar de Tristaina viewpoint. Located at an altitude of 2,702 metres, you can reach it easily after a pleasant ride on the cable car and chairlift at the Ordino-Arcalís ski resort. We advise you to take a thin jacket to protect you from the wind.

The Palau de Gel is also a good alternative
For the middle of the day, we suggest an unbeatable summer plan. At the ice skating rink in Canillo you will see how the temperature drops suddenly. Apart from skating, you can also try ice karting and enjoy a fun and cool time while outside the thermometers are rising.

A plan you can't miss in summer
Andorra has more than 100 lakes scattered throughout the country. Some are more accessible, others are high mountain lakes, but all are of incomparable beauty. The lakes are usually at high altitude, so the temperature is better and you can feel the wind from the peaks. But don't be overconfident and always wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses to protect you from the sun, and drink enough water to maintain your hydration levels. Always choose a route that suits your fitness level and be well-informed before you set off. There are many trails that are suitable for families with children or tougher if you are an expert. If we tell you that you will be able to cool off, it is because of the more pleasant temperatures in the mountains, as not all lakes are suitable for bathing and, most importantly, the water is .... freezing cold.
In this section we recommend some hiking routes.

These are our suggestions for spending August in the cool of the Pyrenees. You can book your room here or consult our offers.
