Last descents! Say goodbye to the ski season in style!

Enjoy the last few days of skiing until the end, with record snowfall in March and good snow conditions.

The end of the season is approaching... But the best always comes last! The heaviest snowfalls have been in early March, transforming the slopes into a paradise just in time for the last runs. This gift of nature offers ski and snowboard fans the perfect opportunity to bid farewell to the 2023/24 season with optimal snow conditions. However, despite the good conditions, temperatures have risen and there are a number of factors to consider for spring skiing.
Here's how to make the most of your last few days in the snow and leave a good taste in your mouth until next year.

Spring skiing in Grandvalira
The slopes are due to close on 7 April, except for Ordino Arcalís, where you can ski until 14 April. This means that there are still a few precious weeks left to continue enjoying the snow. However, to make the most of your last few days of skiing, here are a few tips, as the rising thermometer makes the snow melt faster and you may not be able to ski as well as with more compact snow.

  • Get up early and take advantage of the early hours of the morning, when the snow is in better condition. The days are longer, full of sunshine and the snow changes quickly. It pays to get up early and get to the slopes early, as they are freshly trodden from the night before.
  • Warm up and stretch before you start, to avoid injury, as this type of snow requires more flexibility.
  • Start with south-facing slopes and move on to north and west-facing slopes, which retain the quality of the snow for longer.
  • This is a good time to give your ski boards a first maintenance to make sure the edges are in good condition, to take advantage of the hard early snow.
  • Hydrate well and protect yourself from the sun, although this advice is valid throughout the season, for spring skiing it is even more important.

Dress for spring snow
At this time of year you need to stick to the rule of dressing in layers more than ever. It's cold in the morning, but as midday approaches, the intensity of the sun increases and you'll be warmer and sweating with the exertion. This is the time to take off your clothes. Take off your under layers, but keep your jacket, because if you fall you will feel it, and always wear your gloves, goggles and helmet. These are essential accessories at any time of the year. When the sun goes down, you'll definitely need your under layers again.
But in the meantime, during midday, when the sun is at its strongest, it's a good time to stop off at one of the resort's refreshment points and enjoy the pleasure of hiking the slopes.

Make the most of the season until the last day
At the hotel, we're also looking forward to having fun until the end (7 April). In the Moët & Chandon Terrace, we'll be livening up Thursday and Saturday evenings with live music performances by our dj accompanied by a saxophonist (Thursdays) and solo dj (Saturdays). Check the agenda here and don't miss the best après-ski in Soldeu.

Book your room, discover what it's like to ski in spring and say goodbye to the season in style.
